Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 18, 2025
This privacy policy explains how the ChopChopGo mobile and web applications (collectively, the “Apps”) handle information when you plan meals, organize recipes, and coordinate shopping across the devices and browsers you use. This policy covers the iOS, Android, and web app experiences. For our browser extension, please review the dedicated extension privacy policy.
Information We Collect
We collect only the information needed to provide and improve the Apps:
- Account and profile details. When you sign up or log in, we store your email address, display name, and authentication credentials so the Apps recognise you on each device you authorise.
- Content you add. Recipes, cookbooks, ingredient and instruction sections, uploaded images, imported recipe text, and similar materials are saved so they stay synced across mobile and web experiences.
- Collaboration info. Friend requests, friendships, and recipe or cookbook shares capture the people involved, their contact details, and the permissions granted so shared items reach the right audience.
- Import processing records. When you import from a URL, paste text, upload photos, or use other capture tools, we keep the submitted content, job status, related timestamps, and limited usage metrics so we can process the recipe and diagnose issues.
- Feedback and support submissions. Messages, optional screenshots, and light device context you include in feedback flows are stored so we can follow up and resolve problems.
- Subscription and purchase status. Trial dates, product identifiers, renewal details, and entitlement history let us determine which features should be available to you.
- Usage, diagnostics, and security signals. Aggregated analytics, crash reports, recipe view history, rate-limit counters, and abuse-detection logs help us keep the Apps reliable and secure.
- Local caches and preferences. On-device storage keeps items like recent deep-link tokens, recipe sort choices, and cached images to support offline access; this information stays on your device.
How We Use the Information
- Provide and sync the core experience. Authenticate you, keep your recipes and cookbooks consistent across mobile and web, honor your preferences, and deliver features such as offline caching and recipe exports.
- Support collaboration. Manage friend connections, shared recipes and cookbooks, and related permissions so the right people can view or contribute.
- Process recipe imports. Run our import tools on the content you submit so we can turn web pages, pasted text, or photos into structured recipes.
- Manage subscriptions and trials. Coordinate with payment and subscription partners to determine your entitlements and apply free trials or upgrades.
- Provide help and respond to you. Review feedback submissions, follow up on support requests, and notify our internal team when you flag an issue.
- Improve reliability and security. Analyse aggregated analytics, crash reports, usage logs, and security signals to debug problems, detect abuse, and keep the Apps running smoothly.
Data Retention
- Your recipes, cookbooks, shares, and subscription status remain on our secure servers while your account is active. When you delete a recipe or cookbook, we remove it (and any associated files) from the service.
- Import jobs, related usage logs, and security or rate-limit counters are retained for operational, audit, and abuse-prevention purposes. We aggregate or prune them when they are no longer needed to support the Apps.
- Feedback submissions and attachments stay available until we resolve the issue or you ask us to remove them.
- If you request account deletion through the Apps or by emailing support@chopchopgo.app, we schedule removal of your account data from our production systems 30 days after the request unless you cancel within that window. Once the deletion completes, we keep only the records required for legal, billing, or security obligations.
Data Sharing & Transfers
- Trusted infrastructure providers. We rely on enterprise cloud hosting, storage, authentication, analytics, and monitoring services to run the Apps. Your information may be processed in the United States or other regions where these providers operate.
- Recipe import partners. When you request AI-assisted imports or text extraction, we share the relevant content with vetted machine-learning and document-processing vendors so they can return the structured recipe.
- Subscription and payment processors. We work with billing partners and app-store providers to verify purchases, apply trials, and manage entitlements. Financial details you submit for payment are handled by those partners.
- Support and communications tools. Feedback you send may be routed through secure collaboration platforms so our team can respond quickly.
- We do not sell personal information. We may disclose data when laws or legal processes require it, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, and will continue to safeguard it in those scenarios.
Device & Browser Permissions
Certain features are optional and prompt you before accessing related data:
- Camera and photo library. Used when you capture or upload photos for recipes, cookbook covers, or feedback screenshots.
- Photo and file access. When you attach existing images, select files, or export a recipe PDF, the Apps request access to the relevant storage location you choose.
- Local storage. The Apps use on-device storage to remember preferences, recent deep-link tokens, and cached images for offline use.
Your Choices
- Manage your profile details, friend connections, and sharing settings directly within the Apps.
- Edit or delete recipes and cookbooks at any time, and stop sharing items if you no longer want others to access them.
- Adjust or cancel subscriptions through the app-store account you used for purchase; contact us if you need help reconciling subscription status inside ChopChopGo.
- Request deletion of your account data—including recipes, uploaded images, friend lists, import history, subscription metadata, and feedback attachments—inside the Apps or by contacting support@chopchopgo.app. Account deletions are processed 30 days after you submit the request; you may cancel during that window from within the Apps or by emailing us, but if a cancellation arrives right at the deadline we may be unable to stop the deletion.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, and loss. While no system can guarantee 100% security, we continually review our controls, train our team, and limit access to the data required to keep the Apps running.
